Torch-down still has a place on small residential flats and garage roofs when specified correctly. We use it where the geometry, parapets, and budget fit a two-ply modified system. Fire safety and substrate prep are non-negotiable. On larger commercial decks we usually compare TPO or PVC instead.

Questions
Is torch-down outdated?
Not on the right small roof. It is the wrong default for a large commercial field.
